Ivan Romanzi : when a passion becomes a journey to share. Passionate about automobile modeling, Ivan Romanzi returns with Danilo from SUPER GLUE COLLE21 on his journey, his meeting with Daniel Rinaldi and the birth of RD Build Model.

How was Ivan Romanzi’s passion for model making born?
Danilo: Ivan, let's start at the beginning. How did your passion for model making begin?
Ivan: The passion was born mainly from curiosity and the desire to build. For me, model making has never just been about putting pieces together, but trying to figure out how to turn something small into something that has character and personality. Over time, this passion grew, as did my desire to improve and exchange with other people who experience modeling with the same intensity.
Danilo: And today, what does being a model maker mean to you?
Ivan: Above all, this means never stopping learning. Even when we have gained experience, each model confronts us with a different problem. It could be a painting, a modification, a detail that we cannot reproduce as we would like. And this is precisely where, in my opinion, modeling becomes interesting: when you have to find a solution.
This way of seeing modeling already sums up perfectly Ivan Romanzi : when a passion becomes a journey to share. For Ivan, each difficulty becomes an opportunity to progress, to test a new technique and to understand how to improve the final result.
The meeting between Ivan Romanzi and Daniel Rinaldi
Danilo: At some point, Daniel enters your story. How did you meet?
Ivan: We met through social media, so initially completely virtually. We had model making in common and we started following each other, exchanging and talking about our work. What initially started as a simple relationship between people sharing the same passion gradually became something much bigger.
Danilo: What particularly struck you about Daniel?
Ivan: Certainly his way of approaching modeling. Daniel has a very practical approach and above all, he is not satisfied with “it goes like that”. When he works on a model, he always seeks to understand how to improve the result. And this way of doing things, throughout our discussions, also led me to look at certain aspects of model making from a different point of view.

From a friendship to the creation of RD Build Model
Danilo: So your relationship was born first as a friendship, then as a collaboration?
Ivan: Yes, and that’s precisely the most beautiful aspect. We didn’t start by saying, “Let’s do a project together.” A friendship was born first, then we started sharing more and more ideas, works, experiences and projects. At some point, we realized that we had a pretty similar vision and that we could try to build something together.
Danilo: And that’s where RD Build Model was born?
Ivan: Yes. RD Build Model was born precisely from this journey. It wasn't just a matter of deciding to create a name or a page. It was a natural result of what we were already doing: sharing our passion, working together and trying to create something that could go beyond a single model.
This is precisely what gives all its meaning to Ivan Romanzi: when a passion becomes a journey to share. RD Build Model was not born from a strategy or an artificially constructed project, but from a relationship between two enthusiasts who gradually decided to develop something together.
What does RD Build Model represent today?
Danilo: What does RD Build Model mean to you today?
Ivan: This represents a team. And for me, this word is important. It is not only a project linked to automobile modeling, but a way of sharing what we know how to do and continuing to progress together. The result interests us, naturally, but everything behind it also interests us: the technique, the experience, the exchanges and sharing.
This notion of sharing is at the heart of RD Build Model today.
It is therefore not only a question of presenting beautiful completed models, but also of transmitting the techniques, working methods and solutions used during their creation.
Why show the stages of making a model?
Danilo: You have also started to work a lot on the content section. For what ?
Ivan: Because today, the best way to share a passion is also to tell it. A completed model is the result, but behind that result there are hours of work, mistakes, trials, techniques and decisions. Showing all of this allows those who follow us to really understand what it means to build a model car.
Danilo: So you don't want to just show the finished model.
Ivan: Absolutely not. On the contrary, in my opinion, the most interesting part is precisely the part that we do not normally see. Why a surface becomes smooth, why a painting works well or poorly, how we resolve a mistake, how we modify a part. These are all things that are part of our work and can also be useful to other modelers.
This desire to show the stages of work is particularly interesting in model making, because successful production is often based on a succession of very precise technical decisions.
RD Build Model and SUPER GLUE COLLE21: choosing the right product for each step
It is also in this technical approach that RD Build Model naturally joins the universe of SUPER GLUE COLLE21.
RD Build Model members use the products SUPER GLUE COLLE21 in their creations, particularly when they need a bonding solution adapted to the different constraints encountered in model making.
Plastic, resin, metal, photoetched, small parts or precision assemblies: needs can vary considerably during the same project.
This is why SUPER GLUE COLLE21 offers a wide range allowing you to choose the glue according to the work to be done.
We find in particular:
-
very fluid cyanoacrylates for assemblies requiring strong capillarity;
-
denser glues to keep the product precisely at the point of application;
-
slower setting versions to allow more time during positioning;
-
gels for certain vertical applications or requiring more control;
-
activators;
-
primers;
-
solvents and complementary products.
In model making, it is not enough for a glue to simply be “strong”. The most important thing is to choose the right solution for the right material and construction stage.

Danilo: So what is the objective that you have set for yourself with RD Build Model?
Ivan: Growing up, but doing so while maintaining our own identity. We would like to become more and more recognizable in automotive modeling, not only for the models we make, but especially for the way we approach the work and share our knowledge.

Danilo: And personally, what would you like to see in a few years?
Ivan: I would like to look back and see that what started as a simple friendship on social media has become something real. A group of people, a community, projects, events, content and maybe even new collaborations. Without losing, however, what it all started with: the passion for model making.
Danilo: If you had to summarize in one sentence the journey you completed with Daniel?
Ivan: I would simply say this: we first met through a common passion, then we became friends and finally we decided to build something together. And this is probably the most authentic meaning of RD Build Model.
Ivan Romanzi: when a passion becomes a journey to share
The story of Ivan Romanzi reminds us that model making goes well beyond assembling a model.
